LG continues to tap into rising popularity of Hallyu or Korean Wave in its bid to burnish the brand image and promote its recently launched products such as LG Optimus smartphone around the world. Now LG is looking into Colombia, one of the most booming countries in Latin America, to cash in on soaring interest in Korean culture -- in particular, in Korean pop culture -- with the announcement that it will stage "K-Pop Star" competition -- an open contest where anyone can participate in and show off their distinctive "flair" on the stage in tune with the popular Korean songs.
