
A group of teenage students will be invited to take part in the monitoring program to survey the biodiversity in Han River and check on the water quality.
Seoul, Korea¶ June 1, 2012--Marking the World Environment Day on June 5th, Seoul Metropolitan City Government made the announcement that the 2Q monitoring of its year round Han River Survey will be open to a group of teenagers to check on the water quality and fish stocks, and to draw the eco map on the 2nd and 3rd of June.
The monitoring site will be between Yeouido Han River Park and Banpo area. The outline of the program is doing some research on the biodiversity in Han River, checking on the water quality and analyzing the water sample, engaging in surveillance activities of downstream water pollution. The program will be finalized with drawing a map report on water quality and underwater ecosystem.
On the sideline of the monitoring activities, they will be encouraged to monitor dumping of untreated wastewater and littering while cleaning up the site picking up garbage.
An official at the city government said she hopes this event could raise the public awareness on the environment protection and the students could take this opportunity to have a feeling of responsibility that the natural resources are ours to keep.
