Samsung Galaxy S3 is recognized as an eco-friendly product in and out of the country.
Seoul, KOREA ¶ Jun 22, 2012 (Whowired) -- Samsung Galaxy S3 is recognized as an eco-friendly product in and out of the country. Samsung Electronics announced on the 22nd that its flagship smartphone Galaxy S3 received a carbon emission label granted by the KEITI (Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute).
The Carbon Trust System by the KEITI displays the amounts of carbon dioxide emitted throughout the entire product life cycle from production and distribution to disposal, in a bid to encourage companies to develop low carbon products as well as to promote those products for customers. Galaxy S3 won the certificate due to Samsung’s efforts to reduce carbon footprint with an energy efficient low load charger which is able to cut the standby power to a third of the previous level, and to minimize carbon emission from the raw materials and wastes from Galaxy S3.
Prior to the feat in Korea, Samsung said on the 18th that Galaxy S3 got the platinum level of Sustainable Product Certification granted by the UL (Underwriters Laboratories), a prestigious independent product safety certification organization in the US.
Sin Jong-kyun, President of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung said he was delighted to hear that Galaxy S3 was globally recognized as a green product as it was developed with the product identity of ‘designed for humans and inspired by nature’. Mr Shin also added that “Samsung Electronics continues to develop eco-friendly products under the slogan of Planet First to become a leading green company.”
