Award-Winning Developer of Mobile Games in Japan Drives Expansion of Nexon’s Mobile Business

[SEOUL, Korea & TOKYO=Whowired] June 28, 2012--NEXON Co., Ltd. (“Nexon”) (3659.TO), a worldwide leader in free-to-play online games, today announced an agreement to acquire all outstanding common shares of inBlue.inc (“inBlue”), a developer of mobile social games for the GREE and Mobage platforms in Japan. The acquisition is scheduled to close in June 2012.

Based in Tokyo, Japan, inBlue develops mobile social games for the leading mobile gaming platforms in Japan, GREE and Mobage. Founded in 2010, inBlue specializes in the development and operation of mobile social games, one of which, Sengoku Pockets, received the Special Award at the GREE Platform Awards 2011 held on March 22, 2012, where it was selected from over 2,000 titles serviced on the platform. inBlue has several titles currently under development and scheduled for release in 2012.

Building on its leadership in the PC online games business, the transaction further drives Nexon’s penetration in the mobile games market and is the Company’s latest investment to expand its current portfolio of existing mobile titles. Nexon recently made strategic investments in MOYASOFT Co., Ltd., a Korean social game developer, and JC Entertainment Corporation, the developer of Rule the Sky, the top-grossing game in the Korean App Store. Furthermore, Nexon has a number of mobile titles in development, which will launch globally on the iOS and Android platforms, as well as on the leading GREE and Mobage platforms in Japan.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction will not have a material impact on Nexon’s consolidated financial performance for the fiscal year 2012.
