[SEOUL, Korea=Whowired] June 29, 2012--Medical equipment specialized company MEKICS Co., Ltd. (CEO Jong-Cheol Kim, www.mek-ics.com) revealed that it “released ‘SU:M Series’ along with portable ventilator ‘Pneuma Series’ applying ventilation technology that can be used for critical patients including infants.”

SU:M Series consists of three versions with distinct artificial functions by model of ‘SU:M 1’, ‘SU:M 2’, ‘SU:M 3’, being a ventilation management system praised as an innovative treatment method for respiratory patient care (Health New TechnologyNo. 38).

It implements high-performance gas delivery device and complex artificial ventilation mode combining mechanical ventilation and autonomous ventilation according to the patient status, and due to the active control exhalation valve function, the patient can comfortably cough or breathe during inhalation. Also, the patient surveillance function which configures the function range according to the body weight of the patient can quickly and safely cope with emergency situations.

In case of ‘SU:M 3’, it features the new artificial ventilation technology of HFV only actualized by 3 companies in the world (Germany-Draeger, Japan-Metran, Korea-MEKICS). Called ‘high-frequency ventilation device, ‘HFV’ is a new-concept ventilation technology applicable to criticial patients including infants, which maintains lung ventilator through fast respiration with a very fast ventilation count per minute (average 600-900).

Such ‘HFV’ function is outstanding for treatment in lung epileptic pneumatosis or pneumothorax, respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia, intractable hypoxemia, sepsis, and suffocation.

Another product is the portable ventilator Pneuma Series, a lightweight product of about 8kg, equipped with high-performance low-noise turbine system.

Through the ACPAP function (Assist CPAP, automatic portable ventilation assistance device), a constant air flow is maintained to help the patient breathe comfortably. Also, generally during an emergency, intubation into respiratory tract is necessary for ventilation, but Pneuma employs a mask for enforced ventilation, reducing the intubation failure and allowing an even faster emergency handling.
