Seoul, July 26 (Whowired) -- The interns composed of high school juniors that Hanhwa Group hired for the first time in Korea have begun working in its affiliate companies. The group had recruited 668 of high school students in May as part of a program “Fly High with Hanhwa!” The students started out their three-week internship program from July 23, which includes one week of the corporate training center education and two weeks of on-the-job training.
Each intern will be assigned a mentor who will guide her in every step of the way during the program. The mentors were selected from a pool of young members of the company so that the students could bond with them easily. Some of the students who exhibit adaptability and performance will be hired as regular employees after they graduate from high school.
Chung Ha-Young, an executive with Hanhwa’s human resources department, said, “Even though they are high school juniors, the interns are our group’s precious future talents. The new internship program with an option to hire fully after graduation was devised after the chairman Kim Seung-youn’s suggestion that we create a corporate culture with no discrimination based on educational background.”
