Seoul, KOREA ¶ Mar 23, 2012 (Whowired) – Incheon Metropolitan City Library Association, Korea’s first corporation specializing in managing libraries, announced on March 21 that it would hold an opening ceremony on the 23rd for the launch of its e-book library system. The event is to be held in the lobby of the Korail Bupyeong Station with dignitaries such as the Incheon Metropolitan City mayor, Incheon Metropolitan Council president, and local citizens.
The e-book library system will allow Incheon residents to read books anytime, anywhere with their mobile devices. It will also permit them to borrow books conveniently using the QR code.
The association has purchased as many as 10,000 electronic books at library rates and plans to lend the books to anyone residing or working in Incheon and surrounding areas (Subong, Yeongjong, and Yulmok) free of charge. It is expected to change the reading behavior of the general public as the system is adopted by other libraries in the country.
