SEOUL, Korea ¶ Oct 17, 2011 (Whowired) -- In a bid to broaden the consumer SSD market, Samsung Electronics sets to release an empowered consumer SSD model. The electronics giant based in Korea said on Oct 16 that it is to release Samsung SSD 830 Series which is twice fast compared to current 470 models in data transfers, with greatly enhanced booting speeds and multi-tasking capacity.

Samsung SSD 830 is the ultra-fast consumer SSD (Solid State Drive) based on a next-generation SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) 6 Gb/s interface. With 20 Nano High-speed Nand Flesh, it features sequential reading speeds of up to 520MB/s, transmitting a 4.7 GB DVD movie in 15 seconds.

In addition, it is equipped with the full version of Norton Ghost 15.0 for installation, data backup and recovery.  SSD 830 Series comes in 4 models: 64GB/128GB/256GB/512GB, and the 512GB model is the first consumer SSD model for the capacity in the world. A market researcher iSuppli expects the size of the SSD market would triple from $2.3 billion in 2010 to $7.5 billion in 2015.
