Seoul, KOREA ¶ Nov 26, 2011 (Whowired) -- KT Corporation (formerly Korea Telecom) has signed an agreement with Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEMCO) on Friday at KT’s Seocho-dong Olleh Campus in Seoul. The agreement will focus on the development of environmentally-friendly business models in the IT sector.
The agreement will combine IT and energy technology to create a new business model in various industries. In preparation of the agreement, both parties held working-level meetings on twelve occasions since September of this year.
The two companies will jointly carry out twelve projects covering five sectors that include industry, buildings, transportation, renewable energy, and information technology. Of the five categories, the IT project will focus on implementing KEMCO’s mobile office and the establishment of an emergency recovery center.
KT CEO Lee Sukchae said “KT had set up a new department named “Smart Green Development” in 2009 and has been aggressively pushing for green IT technology and its application in the field.” He added that “through the agreement with KEMCO, the two companies hope to come up with a plan to realize environmentally-friendly growth.”
Meanwhile, KEMCO CEO and President Huh Jeung-Soo stated “KEMCO’s energy management capacity doubled with KT’s various know-how on info-communications will create a synergy effect, resulting in efficiency for energy and environmental platforms.
