Seoul, KOREA ¶ Dec 12, 2011 (Whowired) -- To get your bankbook updated might be a nuisance if you are one of the routine bank-goers. Besides, it is bothersome sometimes to have to carry a plastic card for financial transactions. Yes, there have been introduced a range of mobile payment solutions nowadays but, digital payment cannot replace a whole lot of things a bankbook can cover: to check your credit history or transfer money into someone's account, for example. Internet banking can handle such jobs but it isn't available when you are on the go or away from your PCs.
Now, Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) is enjoying growing popularity with its recently introduced "IBK App Bankbook" -- application based mobile bankbook enabling any financial service such as withdrawing money, wiring and checking financial history -- without opening your paper bankbook at a bank. Mobile app bankbook can unload one of your routine stuffs like updating bankbook and enables you to withdraw money at a ATM machine only if you are aware of your pin number.
The IBK App Bankbook, which was unveiled in September, has reached already 30,000 accounts and is enjoying steady demand with its convenient features appealing to customers. Since app-based bankbook can save accompanying costs to make paper based bankbook, the bank can be able to deliver additional service such as a transfer fee exemption. On users' side, app bankbook presents other merit; it can get personalized with users able to personalize their own bankbook to their likes.
