Seoul, KOREA ¶ Jan 11, 2012 (Whowired) -- SK Telecom has succeeded in commercializing a mobile medical service called “T Biz Hospital” and signed on January 9 with the Hyundae Hospital in Kwangju for supplying the service. T Biz Hospital, according to SK Telecom, allows doctors and nurses to check the patient’s medical records on smart devices such as the smartphone or the tablet PC. Until now, such vital checks were possible only through the paper-based chart or the computer screen.

For example, when a doctor was away from the hospital for holidays, she must find out the patient’s pulse, blood pressure, and other vital data through the phone call with the nurse, which were time consuming and imprecise. But now the doctor can have access to all these data and previous prescription and test records with a click on her mobile device. In addition, the doctor can view X-ray, CAT scan, and MRI images on the device.

Nurses also will benefit from the new technology. Once data such as the patient’s pulse and blood pressure are typed in on the nurse’s smart device, they are sent directly to the central computing system, doing away with the need for entering the data again. T Biz Hospital has been developed jointly by SK Telecom and an IT solution company Haegeon.
