Seoul, KOREA ¶ May 02, 2012 -- LG U+, the third-largest Korean mobile telecom operator after SK Telecom and KT, has begun an in-house program called “U+ Bibimbab” to enhance inter-departmental communication. U+ Bibimbab, named after a popular Korean rice bowl mixed with vegetables, is a workshop participated by members of two different teams within the company that want to improve understanding on each other. Team members can apply for the workshop with reasons for such a get-together and selected teams will be fully supported at the company’s expense.

The program consists of member introductions, talking about issues to discuss and possible solutions, and a “melt-in” session at the end. At the melt-in session, the participants have meals together and play games and other cultural activities, thereby forming the camaraderie with each other. Only within a month of the program’s launch, as many as 150 teams have thus far applied for the program.
The company had held a naming contest for the program and ended up with the name “Bibimbab,” implying “good harmony out of many disparate elements.” It plans to hold up to 100 workshops for 200 teams until the end of the first half of the year.
