Seoul, KOREA ¶ May 07, 2012 -- "Hodu" -- meaning walnut in Korean -- sometimes resembles a safety helmet for biking. Taking much friendlier approach to stage an effective safe driving awareness campaign, Ssangyong Motor is launching what it calls "Hodu-biker Campaign".
According to the South Korean government's official statistics, bicycle-related heads injuries are responsible for 70% of the bike-related accidents leading to deaths, highlighting huge importance of making sure your children will wear safety helmets when they hit the road. For now, wearing helmets has been made mandatory for kids under the ages of 14 but the percentage of wearing safety helmets among young kids amounts to only 3% in Korea.
For the successful campaign to raise awareness on wearing bike helmets, Ssangyong has teamed up with Safe Kids Korea, a local arm of the world famous NGO dedicated to kids safety awareness activities around the globe.
