Seoul, KOREA ¶ Mar 30, 2012 (Whowired) –Of late, robot cartoons are all the rage. The cartoons are not only popular to kids but to adults who grew up watching the Robot Taekwon V series in their childhood. There is a new robot-themed cartoon coming up soon, but with a twist. To debut on April 2 on an over-the-air channel, the new cartoon Robot Arpo takes a total different story line from the usual plot.
Combat Robot Arpo was originally created to destroy humankind. However, something unimaginable happens to him while he was sleeping. Warrior Arpo is now turned into a babysitter robot who is constantly picked on by a pair of twin sisters. In terms of character representation and design, Arpo is reported to be on a par with the likes of Disney and Pixar.
Already, the cartoon has been sold in the European and the Middle Eastern markets, heralding the age of Korean-wave cartoons. It was also invited to the 2011 China International Animation Copyright Fair held in Dongguan in Guangdong province, the only Korean film selected for the trade show, and was a finalist in the 2010 Cartoon Forum in Europe.
