Seoul, Korea ¶May 30, 2012--Despite the cumbersome 3D glasses, 3D TV has entered the mainstream market hitting many of the living rooms in Korea. Now a new Korean startup is expected to make the 3D glasses obsolete with a homegrown display and contents creation technologies.
Real View Media has successfully developed lenticular lens type glassless 3D display opening a new era of 3D outdoor display advertising which is 640 billion won market out of 2 trillion won worth of entire advertising market.
Up until now the domestic 3D advertisement market has been heavily relying on foreign technologies originated from France, Japan, Germany, and the US to manufacture glass free 3D electronics. Jin Pan-gyu, CEO of Real View Media, said the market stalled at the crosstalk effect of the glass free 3D devices but after three years of putting more efforts into perfecting the technology, it was able to minimize the dead zone and crosstalk effects. It has also developed and manufactured 42 inch and 55 inch glassless 3D display.
With the domestically produced glass free 3D display, major Korean manufacturers can save the cost up to 50%. Furthermore, the competitive contents and software technologies are expected to serve as the springboard for growth.
However, with 3D TVs already sitting in the living rooms--with or without the glasses--Real View Media stepped outside to size up the outdoors market potential and has recently started dabbling with 3D advertisement business with this latest technology, signing a deal with a large resort company. The 3D large advertisement display is scheduled to be installed in Gangnam downtown area in August, followed by a string of other advertisement software and contents creation, or glass free 3D display contract with Chinese, American, Japanese and Latin American companies.
