Cathay Pacific Airways raised over 10 million HKD, collecting changes on board last year
Seoul, Korea, July 30 (Whowired)--Cathay Pacific Airways and UNICEF Hong Kong made the announcement that they collected 12.9 million HKD for the year 2011 with its fund raising campaign “Change for Good.” Passengers would willingly dole out changes in foreign currency left during their travel overseas to help disadvantaged children across the world.
Cathay Pacific passengers have donated the total of 120 million HKD (1.78 billion KRW) for the past 21 years. The fund has been delivered to underprivileged children in about 150 developing countries. One full month of the collected funds are regularly sent to a designated local bank in Hong Kong to supply wheelchairs to the children suffering from serious condition called radiculopathy.
Cathay Pacific CEO John Slosar said he was pleased to continue the partnership with UNICEF and extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the passengers who has been supporting the campaign for over the past two decades.
Named as “five star” airline, Cathay Pacific was honored with World’s Best Business Class Award in 2012, operating 140 flight routes including code-shares. It shuttles between Hong Kong and Seoul 6 times per day.
