Seoul, KOREA ¶ Jan 13, 2012 (Whowired) -- NVIDIA, a leading player in visual computing, has announced that Audi selected NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor to power its in-vehicle infotainment systems as well as new digital instrument clusters that replace traditional dashboard gauges. The processor is to be incorporated into all of its vehicles worldwide beginning from 2013.
Once these systems are tightly integrated with the vehicle, their simple user-interface and realistic graphics will help drivers understand critical information with a quick glance, thereby ensuring safer and more intuitive driving.
“Next year, we will once again break new ground with Tegra 3, delivering beautiful, rich visual experiences through the dashboard and the infotainment system… NVIDIA is the clear choice to power our next generation systems,” said Ricky Hudi, chief executive engineer at Audi.
Tegra 3 processor is a complete system-on-a-chip that incorporates a quad-core ARM CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce® GPU and dedicated audio, video and image processors. This highly energy efficient, integrated design enables ultra-fast application processing and vibrant 3D graphics.
