Seoul, KOREA ¶ May 07, 2012 -- SK Telecom will open its own pavilion at Yeosu’s Expo 2012 with the theme “Harmony of Human Touch with Leading-edge Technology.” The cloud-shaped three-story building symbolizing participation, communication, and empathy will represent the future of ICT as well as SK Telecom’s vision.
What sets the SK Telecom pavilion apart from others is that the company has made sure the visitors could touch, interact, participate, and empathize with the displays. In addition to technologies close to people’s daily life such as those related to health, education, and automobile, the pavilion will showcase media art works and films shot by the smartphone. In some corners, visitors are allowed to create their own applications and download artworks on their mobile phones.

In preparation for the three-month-long event, SK Telecom designated the Yeosu venue as the LTE special zone to serve 10 million visitors with highest-quality communications network, s seeking to use the world famous event in the southwestern port city of Yeosu as a stage to boast its expanding long-term evolution (LTE) network.
In addition, the company will install 3G communications networks with large capacities, Wi-Fi hotspots, and base stations in response to increased traffic. According to the company, it has installed 29 LTE stations and 82 remote radio units (RRU), while adding 30 stations and 112 repeaters for its 3G network in the area of the actual exhibition.
As grand opening of the event draws near, a host of nations, along with famous companies, are flocking to Yeosu Expo. Some 105 countries are reported to participate in the every two years event which is expected to attract some 10mn visitors this time.
Under the main theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast: Diversity of Resources and Sustainable Activities", the 93 day event is focusing on developing technology to promote a sustainable relationship between the ocean and mankind. Billed as the biggest gathering of robots in the history of expos, the event is highlighting many imagination capturing technologies and settings, like the Big-O, gigantic round-shaped structure in the water, to display colorful hologram images.
