Seoul, KOREA ¶ Jan 05, 2012 (Whowired) -- SK Planet’s Internet shopping mall “11th Street” (www.11st.co.kr) caused quite a stir by announcing that it would sell light aircraft at 99 million won (approximately US$86,000). The online purveyor is famous for publicizing the sale of unique items, such as space travel (200 million won), Harley-Davidson motorcycles (16 million won), wooden modular houses (270 million won), and electric cars (9.7 million won).
The aircraft model SK Planet is selling is the Zenith STOL CH 750. Since its introduction in 2008, as many as 1,000 CH 750s have been sold in the United States. Designed for off-runway operations, the CH 750 is ideal for often-unpaved runways in Korea.
After placing an order on the site, it takes about six months until delivery. In the meantime, 11th Street will assist the buyer in acquiring the pilot license, as well as safety inspection and aircraft registration. If the customer wants, the shopping mall operator will arrange a free-of-charge berth in the hangar at Taeahn Airport.
