[WONJU = Whowired] November 24, 2011 -- A professional medical supply manufacturer Mediconet(CEO Yong-Dae Han, www.mediconet.co.kr) announced that “Disease relief effect was demonstrated through a study on treatment of chronic backache using high pressure oxygen chamber ‘Oxysys4000’.”
This study was conducted to examine the effect of high pressure oxygen on pains and functional recovery of patients with chronic backaches. The subjects were composed of seniors aged 60 or above who called for backaches lasting for 12 weeks or longer.
Backache is the most common symptom of musculoskeletal diseases with incidence rate of over 84%. Development into chronic pain increases economic burden and causes complex decline in body functions, resulting in difficulty of recurrence prevention and full recovery.
As a result of performing the study on chronic backache patients, combined use of high pressure oxygen and physical therapy was found to be effective for relieving pain and recovering functions.
In particular, this result was verified of its excellence with mentioning in a research paper at Korea University titled, ‘The Effect of Combined Use of High Pressure Oxygen and Physical Therapy on Relief of Chronic Backache in Elderly.’
Although high pressure oxygen treatment was mainly applied to gas gangrene and carbon monoxide poisoning in the past, its use continues to broaden to include acceleration of wound cure after operations, skin graft, and treatment of premature babies or autism.
Mediconet currently offers various products other than the soft-type high pressure oxygen chamber ‘Oxysys4000’ used in the study, such as hard-type ‘O2 Chamber’ and ‘O2 Chamber Plus’ and ‘Pet Chamber’ for pets.
Han Yong Dae, the CEO of Mediconet, said that “Through this study, high pressure oxygen treatment is expected to become active in musculoskeletal rehabilitation in which its relative use was insufficient compared to other fields.” He added that “[Mediconet] will put efforts in promotion and supply of products in domestic and foreign markets, since their effects are being demonstrated in diverse medical fields.”
On one hand, Mediconet plans to exhibit various products at KIMES 2012 being held at Seoul COEX Exhibition between February 16 and 19 of next year. (Inquiries firstname.lastname@example.org, 82-33-742-0240)
