[SEOUL=Whowired] 02 November, 2011– Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced that it is to launch an innovative new marketing campaign aimed at promoting its latest compact system camera, the NX200. Entitled ‘See the world in perfect detail’, the campaign will offer unprecedented opportunities for consumers to experience the power of the NX200 first hand through online and offline activation.

The online element of the campaign, ‘NX200 Feel & Share’, will centre on a Facebook photography competition with a difference. Samsung will provide sixty photography enthusiasts worldwide with their own NX200 camera and lens kits to create a virtual NX200 photo gallery of their own detailed images expressing their unique and individual photography styles. The shots taken by the sixty chosen ‘imagelogers’ will be displayed on a new dedicated campaign tab on the Samsung NX Facebook page, available at www.facebook.com/samsungnx, for a chance for them to win the full NX200 system.

NX fans will be the judges, encouraged to view, vote for and comment on their favorite shots and even share postcards using their top images. Based on this activity, the photographer of the most popular image will be crowned the overall winner. Voting will open from November 2nd 2011.

The ‘NX200 Touch & Share’ offline activation will be offering passers by in popular tourist spots in the UK, South Korea and Hong Kong the chance to try out the NX200 first hand, taking advantage of the ‘must see’ spots to create their own memorable pictures. Participants will then be able to take away their images on a SD card for a permanent reminder of their experience which they can share with friends and family.

Bringing the NX200 to a wider audience is a key focus for Samsung and the inspiration behind its new and inventive free rental scheme. This will provide the opportunity for consumers to experience the NX200 and its superior performance for themselves, demonstrating how easy it is to achieve quality results.

With a 20.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor developed in-house by Samsung, the NX200 ensures a high-quality image which shows every detail and puts high performance at the fingertips of all photographers. High speed capture ensures that no shot is missed and is achieved through the NX200’s 100ms Advanced AF speed.

Additionally, thanks to its Fast Boot and seven frames per second continuous shooting it’s the perfect way to capture that split-second action in an instant. There is even the choice to even move from shot to shot in only 400ms, meaning that you will never need to neglect a moment. Life-like color and sharp details are further guaranteed due to the wide range ISO (100-12800, covering seven steps), even in dark environments or when capturing still images of moving objects.

The NX200’s state-of-the-art i-Function 2.0 lens allows the user to control a range of parameters from the lens without having to take their eye off the shot. With the upgraded i-Function 2.0 on the NX200, users can also control six different Smart Filters and the intelli-Zoom function from the lens whilst in Lens Priority Mode.

Mr Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics, commented: “Samsung aims to inspire creativity in everybody, regardless of their photographic ability. While the technology of the NX200 is certainly advanced, bringing the model to a wider audience and giving them a hands-on experience will help demonstrate that outstanding, detail-rich photography is achievable both for experienced photographers and those who are just starting out. The pioneering technology used in the NX200 gives users an effortless route to outstanding photography.”
