[BARCELONA, Spain = Whowired] March 1, 2012 -- AuthenTec (NASDAQ: AUTH), a leading provider mobile and network security, today announced that it has teamed with Korea’s leading internet service provider SK Planet (a subsidiary of SK Telecom) to enhance end-to-end security for its subscribers and networks. SK Planet will integrate AuthenTec’s QuickSec™ VPN security for Android into its TrustZone-based security environment and will offer the complete solution to leading OEMs for integration into handset models and tablets to be used on SK Telecom or SK Planet networks.
AuthenTec’s QuickSec VPN Client enables secure storage and secure access of the sensitive information needed for VPN authentication by using the SK Planet TrustZone-based security environment. This provides an extra level of hardware-based security using TrustZone to meet the strictest enterprise security requirements for remote access scenarios.
“With an ever increasing focus on mobile security, our goal is to create a complete security ecosystem for our subscribers, not just a few pieces,” said Mr. Hyun-Wook Kim, Senior Director of Platform R&D at SK Planet. “AuthenTec offers proven VPN security for Android, which is why we teamed with them to create a solution that can be integrated into our TrustZone Secure OS and used in our security environment, ensuring secure network communication for our clients and enabling us to provide many new services based on this security ecosystem.”
“SK Planet became the market leader by offering innovative technology solutions to its subscribers and its handset and tablet providers, so we are very pleased to collaborate on a QuickSec VPN solution for their ecosystem,” said Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson, Vice President of AuthenTec Embedded Security Solutions. “The combined AuthenTec-SK Planet offering provides more complete security for their subscribers and Android platform providers.”
