Hyundai Heavy Adopts Impregnable Mobile Security Solutions
Seoul, KOREA ¶ Apr 10, 2012 (Whowired) – Hyundai Heavy Industries will be the first company to adopt the integrated mobile security solution that is in use for production, sales and warranty services. Hyundai Heavy, together with SK Telecom, said on April 9 that the two companies had jointly developed the corporate mobile security solution called “Smart Security” and would supply the technology to more than 1,000 smartphones and tablet PCs until the end of May.
Smart Security is designed to keep sensitive information within the corporate boundary from leaking. The most critical feature of Smart Security to be supplied to the shipbuilding giant is the SSM, or Smart Device Security Management, technology by which the user can lock the mobile device or delete the data in the device remotely in case it is lost or stolen. In addition, Smart Security can install anti-virus programs and perform regular virus checks from the remote server.
Hwang Shi-Young, vice president in charge of computing at Hyundai Heavy Industries, said, “We decided to work with SK Telecom in developing mobile security solutions custom-tailored to manufacturing, given the increasing importance of mobile information security in our shipbuilding business. We expect to see a marked improvement in mobile security with these solutions and become one of the smartest shipbuilders in the world.”
