With the plan to sell Kimchi fridges to vegetarians and Kimchi enthusiasts as well as Korean expats, Daewoo Electronics tries to diversify the exports areas, branching out into the US and started its online marketing.
Seoul, Korea ¶ June 20, 2012--Daewoo Electronics fine tunes its overseas strategy going after Korean expatriate communities in the US and Japanese Kimchi enthusiasts in the neighborhood.
Daewoo saw the overseas sales of its Kimchi fridge rising from last May mainly in areas heavily populated by Korean immigrants.
Last month alone, Daewoo sold as many as 1,000 units of Klasse with capacities ranging from 130 to 330 liters at major cities in the East coast of the United States. In the latter half of the year Daewoo will expand the market into Canada and to the Pacific Coast, targeting Korean communities.
Daewoo branched out into the US and started its online marketing. From the end of last month, it has been actively engaged in marketing activities including TV commercials and promotional activities in cities like New Jersey known to have large Korean expat communities.
The plan is to sell Kimchi fridges to vegetarians and Kimchi enthusiasts as well as Korean expats diversifying the exports areas. Kim Jung-han, US head of Daewoo Electronics, said the sales of Kimchi fridges are on the rise especially in Korean and Japanese communities due to positive responses from the customers in the comparative qualities and cost competitiveness.
