–According to a psychological
research a few years ago, college students were found more likely to ask about music preferences than any other conversation
topics during their online getting-to-know conversations. This research had
also led us to the idea that one's music preference talks more about the new person's
personality characteristics and values. So it sounds about right to combine the
social networking platforms with online music services as in the case of the first Korean social music service provider, Lisn.me.
Lisn.me launched
by a digital contents company, Direct Media Corp., was well received by the
music fans, critics, and artists. It is a new social music service where people
with similar taste in music can network and share their interests using SNS platforms
such as twitter, face book, and me2day. Also record producers and artists will be
able to join the networking service for reliable feedback while users can make
comments and share their interests in newly released music albums and artists.
A music industry
source expected producers being able to directly communicate with fans and employing
SNS marketing tactics would contribute a lot to the growth of the industry. A
company executive at Direct Media also said Lisn.me will change the landscape
of the online music industry which has long been remained as contents providers,
and set a new trend in the industry.
